Common questions

How many tons of crushed stone per cubic yard?

About 1.4 tons for #57 (the all-purpose size), 1.5 for crusher run (the fines pack it denser), and 1.35 for washed/clean stone. The stone-type selector applies the right figure.

What's the difference between #57 and crusher run?

#57 is uniform ¾"–1" stone with no fines — it drains, stays loose, and is the default base and drainage stone. Crusher run (#411/ABC) mixes stone with stone dust, so it compacts nearly solid — the choice for driveways and under slabs where you want a hard cap.

How much does a ton of crushed stone cover?

At 2" deep, roughly 100 sq ft; at 4", about 50 sq ft. Delivered bulk is dramatically cheaper than bags — one ton equals about sixty 50 lb bags.
